CWPP at Frankfurt Book Fair 2018

 From 10 to 14 October, 2018, the 70th Frankfurt Book Fair was held at the Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. This year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, at which 4000 events have taken place, has attracted about 7500 exhibitors from 110 countries and regions. A delegation from CWPP, headed by Vice President Mr. Li Zhongfeng attended the Book Fair, the world's largest trade fair for books.

 
The Chinese delegation, consisting of over 90 exhibitors, exhibited more than 1000 titles of publications at the Book Fair, and caught global attention. CWPP showcased more than 50 titles of Chinese or English books, such as Dam Construction in China — A Sixty-year Review, Series of Wind Power Generation Engineering Technology, Chinese Water Culture Series, Electric Power Industry Standards of the People’s Republic of China, and some popular books of social sciences. At CWPP’s booth, Mr. Li Zhongfeng met with representatives from Elsevier, EDP Sciences, Search Press Ltd., and Arab Scientific Publishers, and had in-depth discussions with them on the copyright export of hydropower industry standards, new energy technology books, Chinese water culture series and some other books, and the joint publication of academic books, as well as the Chinese standards’ "going out", and the export of knowledge content of Chinese water culture. They also explored the possibility of establishing communication mechanism, innovating publication mode, and creating new ways of cooperation. 
 
In order to further broaden CWPP’s international vision, and to seek cooperation with water- and culture-related international organizations, Li Zhongfeng met with the heads of publishing departments of UNESCO, UNFAO, the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the International Water Association (IWA). Mr. Li introduced CWPP’s achievements in international cooperation, talked about the potential of establishing cooperative mechanisms and importing some key titles, and recommended some of CWPP’s quality books, such as the 2017 China Water Resources Development Report. 
 
CWPP’s delegates also visited the Hall of British and American Publishers, Hall of the Children's Book, and the Asian Pavilion, seeking potential titles accord with CWPP’s scope. In addition, they investigated the book products, copyright trade, and sales of some major foreign publishing institutions.
  
The Frankfurt Book Fair which was inaugurated in 1949, is a five-day annual event. With Georgia being the Guest of Honour, the 2018 edition of the Book Fair has received more than 280,000 visitors. The Frankfurt Book Fair not only serves as a platform for copyright trading, cultural dissemination and exchange of ideas, but also gathers information through innovative activities for online education, film and television, games and some other industries, presenting the readers with a wonderful cultural reading feast.
